Our underlying technology, products, and the benefit to patients and carers.
Corryn's core technology is based on electrospinning, a well-established fabrication technique that applies high voltages to create a mesh of very fine fibres that mimic the natural extracellular matrix, protecting the wound surface while remaining breathable and flexible due to their high total porosity and surface area, combined with average pore sizes in the sub-micron range.

Corryn uses biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic and natural polymers as basis for its wound dressing platform which in combination with our “patent-pending” electrospinning technology has shown to be a remarkable environment to promote wound healing and closure, and reduce scar formation.

This platform has been shown to deliver synthetic and natural materials in a single step, with or without active ingredients.
Corryn Biotechnologies' HEALS applicator is a handheld device that accepts pre-sealed cartridges of wound dressing material, and is capable of fabricating and depositing a mesh of very fine fibres that mimic the natural extracellular matrix. The device has been designed to be usable by any healthcare professional with minimal training.

The HEALS applicator deposits these advanced materials directly onto wounds in a single step, without directly contacting the patient or the dressing material, reducing pain on dressing application and allowing bespoke material selection for every wound.

All of our dressing materials under development are biodegradable, with closure-promoting and other supporting properties. Active ingredients to both identify and combat wound bed infection are currently being targetted within our R&D portfolio.
Chronic wounds demand both meticulous attention and a multidisciplinary approach from care givers. Afflicted patients are faced not only with prolonged healing times, but also recurrent infections and substantial pain, which can severely impact their physical and emotional well-being. Moreover, patients endure a continuous struggle of frequent medical visits, prolonged treatment plans, and poor clinical outcomes.

The multifaceted nature of chronic wound aetiologies, such as diabetes, pressure sores, and venous leg ulcers, poses significant challenges for healthcare professionals. These challenges include addressing underlying comorbidities, managing wound infection, implementing appropriate dressings, as well as selecting and employing advanced therapies. It is imperative that we, as medical device providers, recognize and empathize with the profound struggles faced by both patients and carers to develop innovative solutions for these challenges. Through our collective efforts, we aspire to empower patients and pave the way for effective chronic wound management.
